Now that they beat Getafe 2-0, Real Madrid is back on top of La Liga. After Lucas Vazquez’s ball, Joselu scored the first goal with his head. He then scored his team’s second goal after the break. The on-loan Espanyol forward was found on the edge of the penalty area by a brilliant spinning move and drilled home. Madrid is two points ahead of Girona, which has been a surprise.
Real Madrid beat Getafe easily, with two goals from Joselu, to take the lead in La Liga.
In the 13th minute, Vinicius Junior gave Real Madrid their first real chance of the game. The Brazilian was set free by a long ball over the top, putting him one-on-one with goalie David Soria. However, Soria, 30, was up to the challenge and stopped Vini’s shot.
Early on, Madrid tightened up and took a lead they deserved after 15 minutes. Lucas Vazquez sent in a great cross from the right side, and Joselu was there to head it past Soria and into the ground, giving Real Madrid the lead.After 39 minutes, Real almost made it 2-0, and once again, Vazquez and Joselu worked together. Vazquez had time and room on the right side to send in a low cross. Joselu was able to meet it first time, but Soria did a great job of pushing his shot around the post.
After a pretty dull first half, Jose Bordalas made three changes to his Getafe team to try to get them back into the game.
In the second half, Getafe came out stronger and had their first real chance when Mason Greenwood hit the post with a strong shot after 52 minutes.
In the 57th minute, Joselu scored his second goal of the game, making it 2-0 for Real Madrid.
Vini Jr. sent a good pass to Joselu, and the Madrid forward was able to take a touch and then shoot past Soria.After 65 minutes, Carlo Ancelotti’s team was almost able to make it 3-0. When Joselu had a one-on-one with goalkeeper Soria, he chose to pass the ball to Vini Jr. on the left side, where the Getafe goalie was already on the ground. Vini Jr. looked like he was going to score, but Soria’s stretched-out arm blocked his shot.
After 73 minutes, Getafe hit the post a second time. This time, their top scorer Borja Mayoral sent in a hard shot that hit the post and bounced back off it.
In the last 15 minutes, Real Madrid took full control of the game. They expertly moved the ball around to win and go to the top of the table.
