Bayern Munich reportedly considered a move for struggling Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk in the January transfer window.

According to The Athletic, the German giants were mulling over recruiting the 23-year-old following winger Kingsley Coman’s serious knee injury that left them short on the flanks. However, the Bundesliga outfit decided to fast-track the move to bring in Bryan Zaragoza from Granada, meaning he joined them on loan before linking up with them permanently in the summer, as was previously agreed.
Mudryk has struggled since signing for Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk for £89 million ($112 million) in January 2023. The Ukrainian international has scored just four goals and bagged a paltry four assists in 41 appearances for the West London outfit. Furthermore, he sometimes finds it hard to come by.
Mudryk joined Chelsea on an eight-and-a-half-year contract until 2031, just over a year ago. The Blues outbid London rival Arsenal to secure his signature, but the big-money move has not gone according to plan so far.
Mudryk, who has three goals and two assists to his name this season, will hope to get some game time in Chelsea’s next fixture, a home clash against Wolves on Sunday in a battle between two mid-table Premier League sides.
