Christopher Nkunku and Trevoh Chalobah Fully Prepared for Tomorrow’s Clash with Man City

Preparations for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Manchester City continued for the Chelsea squad at Cobham today, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino overseeing the morning session.

With our Monday night success under the lights at Crystal Palace now in the rearview mirror, the Blues’ focus has switched towards the trip to reigning champions Manchester City on Saturday.

Pochettino’s side will be looking to build on two impressive performances on the road, with another strong showing away from home required if we’re to get a positive result at the Etihad Stadium.

Levi Colwill was involved in training today after making his return to first-team action during the win at Palace. The Academy graduate replaced the injured Thiago Silva midway through the second period and helped us secure victory.

Colwill had missed the previous four games but was an assured presence at the back at Selhurst Park, which saw late goals from Conor Gallagher and Enzo Fernandez secure us three points.

Christopher Nkunku also impressed off the substitutes’ bench after being introduced at halftime against the Eagles.

The France international, who joined the Blues in the summer from RB Leipzig, has been eased back into the first-team fold after returning from injury with a goal against Liverpool at the end of last month.

Malo Gusto was replaced by Alfie Gilchrist towards the end of Monday night’s game, but Pochettino confirmed after the 3-1 victory that it was solely down to fatigue rather than an injury.

The right-back produced an energetic display which was capped off with Gallagher’s first of the night

‘He’s (Gusto) really, really young,’ said Pochettino on Monday. ‘Now Reece James is injured, and he plays a lot. We can also see some good things. But it’s a process, and he’s young. We are so happy. Yes, for his first season, and he’s playing a lot.’

Raheem Sterling was involved in today’s session at Cobham and will be pushing for a start at the Etihad, a stadium he knows better than any other member of the Chelsea first-team squad.

Raheem scored against Manchester City the last time the two sides met

Sterling played 339 times during a seven-year stay at Manchester City before swapping Manchester for London in the summer of 2022.

Sterling has yet to taste victory against his former club since making his return to London, but he did score in the thrilling 4-4 draw when the teams met at Stamford Bridge back in November.

High spirits in the team ahead of the trip to City
