WOLVES 3-4 MANCHESTER UNITED: Marcus Rashford returned to the starting line-up following his boozy trip to Belfast – and he put in an excellent performance in a crazy game at Molineux

Rashford was the center of attention. He was aware of the pressure, accepted it, and delivered.

After a rough week in which he missed the FA Cup game against Newport County because he was too drunk to drive to Belfast, Rashford turned his attention back to what he can do on the field. It was just what Manchester United needed to get back on track, and they did just that at Molineux. They played much better offensively, which disguised their patchy form and shaky defense.

The way Rashford played was a huge boost for Erik ten Hag, who had spent the week saying he had moved on from the incident. He chose not to treat Rashford the same way he treated Jadon Sancho. He also decided to put him back in the starting lineup instead of Antony, who had done well at Newport.Any fears were put to rest in the fifth minute, when Rashford scored a beautiful goal. Bruno Fernandes messed up Diogo Dalot’s pass across the penalty area, which let Rasmus Hojlund set up Rashford to curl the ball into the corner.

As a response, he ran over to the away fans and did a knee slide while barely making a face. Last week, his teammates were said to be mad at him, but the way they joined him this week made it seem like that was all in the past.Rashford has been in good form lately, even though he did something wrong. With this goal, he has now scored or set up a goal in each of his last five games in all categories. Before that, he had gone five games without setting up a goal. He is in good shape now after having a slow start to the season.

Luke Shaw’s presence behind Rashford must have helped him when he came back to the team. Between them, the two England players get along great on the left side of the field, which was bad for Gary O’Neil’s team.

They were warned once, and then they worked together again on the gap to take Nelson Semedo out of the game. In the 22nd minute, Shaw sent a low cross to the near post, where Hojlund easily put it past Jose Sa. This made it 2-0.Rashford was now filled with confidence. He must have felt better because he was close to the away fans at Molineux during the first half. The 3,000 away fans made him feel welcome in their own way by singing “Na, na, na, Rashford’s on the p***!” which was meant to be funny.

Hojlund and Casemiro scored two more goals for United in the first half, but they were called offside. United should have scored more goals while Rashford was still on the field. The three of Hojlund, Rashford, and Garnacho up front looked like the most fluid United attack this season until the 73rd minute, when Rashford was replaced by Antony.

A penalty kick by Pablo Sarabia was quickly cancelled out by a shot by Scott McTominay. This was another good call by Ten Hag. The game got very exciting near the end when Max Kilman scored a close-range goal. Then Pedro Neto scored in extra time to make it 3-3 and send the crowd wild.

Kobbie Mainoo was not going to let the game end, which was good for United. The young player showed great skill and scored a goal into the bottom corner to finish off a great game. It had been a while since Rashford had scored, and his first goal had been forgotten in all the chaos.
